Supplies Needed:
2 Watermelon's
Vaseline OR kids shampoo
Pilons or something to mark goal lines
How to Play:
Set up even goal posts on either side of your playing field and then divide your group into two assigning each group to a goal. Once you have greased up the watermelon with the Vaseline or kids shampoo place it in the middle of the field while all the players line up at their end of the field. Yell 'GO' and watch them fight for the melon!
The object of the game is to get the melon past your teams goal line. The person who has the melon in their possession is allowed to take 5 steps while holding it and then must gently toss or pass of the melon to another team mate. If the other team knocks the melon to the ground, the play transfers and the melon becomes possession of the other team. In order to score the melon must be gently tossed or handed across the goal line...the players cannot run into the goal line carrying the melon.
Warnings:
You may want to pre-warn your kids that they should wear clothes that they wouldn't mind getting dirty. Neither of the suggested lubricants stain however there will always be kids complaining, "These clothes are new" or "My mom is going to be so mad". If you give them a heads up and maybe have some thrift store shirts on hand these complaints can be avoided.
Also, please make sure this game is supervised. All games come with a risk and should be played wisely.
OH! And in case you were wondering - the second watermelon is incase the kids break the first :)

Very nice. I site to assist the caregiver/babysitter to entertain the over energized and curious child!
